RCL Discussions: Management of our Beaches

This text is to promote  discussion.   This is starting  information, please remember that opinions are “not right or wrong”, just opinions and information to get discussions going.

The issues are complex and Rye now has a Selectmen’s Committee to Manage the beaches.

The first discussion point needs to be, do we want the Selectmen running the beaches or are there better Beach Management models?

A starting point may be to develop (maybe part of the Master Plan), a consensus agreement for how the town views the beaches and what can or should transpire on or near them.

Just as it would be no fun having to hike 10 miles on a flat and  not very scenic trail to start a hike up a Mountain, others do not like having to lug their beach gear two miles on a busy road to get to a public beach.
