\n<\/span>Review of the Progress to Date and Project Schedule
\n<\/span>1. Â Summary of afternoon meeting with Staff. Â Eric Paulson met with most of<\/span>the Rye Town Hal staff. Â There were some minor changes and reconfigurations. <\/span>For instance, the Assessing Department feels strongly that it should be near
\n<\/span><\/span>the Finance Department. Â There is no advantage to Assessing being on the
\n<\/span><\/span>first floor as public access can be accommodated by putting it on the second
\n<\/span>floor, near Finance.<\/span>Â <\/span>Â <\/span>
\n<\/span>2. Â Review updated plan
\n<\/span><\/span>Eric Paulson stated that SMP’s charge from the last meeting, was to explore
\n<\/span><\/span>the possibility of adding a kitchen, adding more bathrooms, and identify a
\n<\/span><\/span>good location for the elevator. Â He stated that a small kitchen could be in
\n<\/span><\/span>the back of the second floor, in the enclosed porch. Â There would be no oven
\n<\/span><\/span>or stove. Â There would be a refrigerator, freezer, a microwave and sink. Â It
\n<\/span><\/span>would not be a commercial kitchen. Â Regarding bathrooms, he stated that
\n<\/span><\/span>there would be bathrooms in the front of the second floor, for handicap. Â In
\n<\/span><\/span>addition, there could easily put two additional bathrooms on the third floor
\n<\/span><\/span>space below the belfry. Â Regarding the elevator in the new building, he
\n<\/span><\/span>stated that if the elevator was moved into the interior of the building,
\n<\/span><\/span>that the elevator would be under a higher part of the roof, making the lines
\n<\/span><\/span>more simple.
\n<\/span><\/span>3. Â Review Exterior Character Board
\n<\/span><\/span>Eric Paulson submitted photos of building showing exterior details for the
\n<\/span><\/span>Committee’s review. Â He submitted photos of building with solar panels on
\n<\/span><\/span>the roofs to give an idea of how they would look. Â This would not be allowed
\n<\/span><\/span>in the Historic District. Â He stated that the roof is asphalt shingle on the
\n<\/span><\/span>existing building and will be compatible in the new building. Â Regarding the
\n<\/span><\/span>exterior building material of the new building, he stated that it was his
\n<\/span><\/span>view that a match of the wooden clapboard would be appropriate. Â He thinks
\n<\/span><\/span>that the trim would be simpler than what is on the existing building.
\n<\/span><\/span>Similarly, shudders on the new building would not be necessary, giving it a
\n<\/span>subservient feel to the existing building.<\/span>Â <\/span>Â <\/span>
\n<\/span>4. Â Working Committee discussion
\n<\/span><\/span>Jason LaCombe stated that towards the end of the last meeting they had
\n<\/span><\/span>discussed the idea of having a smaller working committee. Â Victor Azzi, Beth
\n<\/span><\/span>Yeaton, and Peter Kasnet volunteered.
\n<\/span><\/span>5. Â Required Information
\n<\/span><\/span>Jason LaCombe pointed out that he needs information on the geothermal
\n<\/span><\/span>system. Â Mike Magnant will provide this. Jason stated that there is an
\n<\/span><\/span>updated energy audit on the existing building and would like a copy of this
\n<\/span><\/span>report. Â Jason stated that at some point the Committee should start thinking
\n<\/span><\/span>about the interior finishes, fixtures, and materials. Â Jason explained that
\n<\/span><\/span>the Geotechnical Engineer is working on finishing up his report. Â Some
\n<\/span><\/span>bedrock was found but until the site survey is completed it is not known if
\n<\/span><\/span>it is an issue. Â Mike Magnant stated that he showed the surveyor where the
\n<\/span><\/span>septic tank is located. Â He noted that there is a sketch that shows the
\n<\/span><\/span>leachfield is on the other side of the parking lot, and that this will be
\n<\/span><\/span>confirmed. Â Craig Musselman stated that the Rye Heritage Commission has some
\n<\/span><\/span>money dedicated for the Town Hall. Â The Heritage Commission came up with the
\n<\/span><\/span>idea of applying for historical grants. Â A grant regarding the restoration
\n<\/span><\/span>and repair of the windows is contemplated. Â Alternatively, money could be
\n<\/span><\/span>used to help educate the public. Â Anthony Mento explained that marketing is
\n<\/span><\/span>very important. Â SMP is quite capable of developing a plan, but separate
\n<\/span>marketing professionals may be needed to get community buy-in.<\/span>Â <\/span>Â <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
\n<\/span>6. Â Our next steps
\n<\/span><\/span>Measurements of the existing building, inside and out, have been taken.
\n<\/span><\/span>Over the next couple of weeks the CAD drawings will be developed. Â Mae
\n<\/span><\/span>Bradshaw asked that the connector between the existing building and new
\n<\/span>building be made more wide, so that a gallery could be put incorporated.<\/span>Â <\/span>Â <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
\n<\/span>7. Â Meeting Schedule, Going Forward <\/span><\/span>Next Meeting is May 20th.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
\n<\/span><\/span>8. Â Public Input
\n<\/span><\/span>Peter Crawford spoke and said that he thinks the program and how it matches
\n<\/span><\/span>to the building is still off in terms of square feet. Â SMP stated that they
\n<\/span>will clear this up.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
