The issues are complex and Rye now has a Selectmen’s Committee to Manage the beaches.<\/p>\n

The first discussion point needs to be, do we want the Selectmen running the beaches or are there better Beach Management models?<\/p>\n

A starting point may be to develop (maybe part of the Master Plan), a consensus agreement for how the town views the beaches and what can or should transpire on or near them.<\/p>\n

Just as it would be no fun having to hike 10 miles on a flat and  not very scenic trail to start a hike up a Mountain, others do not like having to lug their beach gear two miles on a busy road to get to a public beach.<\/p>\n
