Rye Energy Community Power

The Select Board has charged the Energy Committee with drafting a Community Power Electric Aggregation Plan and a warrant article to be voted on at the town election. The Energy Committee has also been charged with representing the Town to the board of the Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire.  CPCNH is a non-profit, public organization formed to help NH communities launch community power programs, share administrative resources and participate in joint electric power purchase solicitations.

A community power program would allow the Town of Rye to aggregate the combined use of all its electric ratepayers to purchase electric supply. This opens up the possibility for Rye residents and businesses to receive better electric rates and have more choice of where we get our electricity.

This is “community” power which means we need you to engage in the process by asking questions and giving us your input. We would love to have community members join us in the next steps. The Energy Committee will hold public meetings in December and January to explain the program, answer your questions and listen to your feedback. In the meantime, if you have questions or would like to get involved please email us at [email protected] or check out the Community Power webpage on the Energy Committee webpage.
