On Saturday November 12th at 1 PM in the Rye Public Library, Rye Author Lisa Moll will discuss her new book  “Rye’s Battle of the Century: Saving the New Hampshire Seacoast from Olympic Oil.” The event will include a power point, talk by the author and discussion with the audience.
Based on extensive research, Rye’s Battle of the Century reveals the town of Rye and its opposition activists were crucial in the debate and defeat of Aristotle Onassis’ attempted construction of a massive marine terminal, pipeline and oil refinery along the Seacoast of New Hampshire in 1973-74. Rye’s Battle of the Century adds new insights and people to the story, including a closer examination of Rye activists who battled the attempted marine terminal along the Isles of Shoals, thwarting Olympic’s efforts to create an industrial gateway into the state of New Hampshire. The book reshapes the historical narrative in important ways.
