Town Hall committee April 2014 update

The Rye Town Hall Committee (THC) discussed, deliberated, and decided to recommend to the Rye BOS that the THC continue to work with SMP Architecture, in order to continue and complete the design process, including the Design Development phase, the Construction Documents phase (including Drawings and Specifications), and, upon their completion, to receive competing, fixed-price, lump-sum bids from pre-qualified general contractors. The goal is, on a very tight schedule, to complete the design process and receive these competitive bids by the time of the Rye Town Meeting Deliberative Session in February 2015. If the Townspeople vote to proceed with Construction, SMP would be further retained to provide “Construction Phase Services.â€

One change in membership of the Rye THC is the appointment of Mae Bradshaw, representing the Rye Historic District Commission, to fill the seat vacated by Paula Merritt, who had resigned earlier because she and her husband were planning to move from Rye. Victor Azzi, Chairman of the Rye THC, has been working with Town Officials, Town Counsel, and SMP, on the details of the proposed contract, going forward, with SMP.

With the results of the voters’ approval on Article #8 on March 11th, the recent meetings of the Rye THC, on April 15 and April 22, have focused on the details of the proposed contract, the work accomplished during the earlier conceptual and Schematic Design phase, the design details of the proposed Town Hall Project, and on the Time-Line and meeting- and work-schedule by which it is planned to accomplish the work that needs to be done.
