Demolition Review Committee April 3rd and April 21st 2014 notes

The Demolition Review Committee met on April 3, 2014.  The meeting was devoted to the discussion of rules of procedure for the committee.  The Committee consisted of the Chair Mae Bradshaw, the Vice Chair Rich Davis, and Jane Hallway and the two alternates Peter White and Alex Herlihy.  Previously, when an application was received, a copy is emailed to the members and alternates and a responsive email would indicate whether the building (which must be at least 500 square feet and older than 50 years) is of historic or architectural interest which would require a public hearing before it could be demolished.  The Committee’s rules have now changed to comply with the right to know laws making the email communications, in lieu of an actual meeting, not in compliance with the law.  In the future all Demolition Review Committee determinations of interest or no interest will be occur at a meeting which must take place within five days of the application.

The Demolition Review Committee met on April 21, 2014 at Town Hall for review three applications.  One was incomplete and returned to the Building Inspector with no action taken.  One located at 250 Locke was voted to have no historical interest. One was the 493 Central Road with the old South School.  The property had been approved for subdivision by the Planning Board.  The Committee went out to the site and determined that the out building, not attached to the school was of no interest and all members present:  Rich Davis, Mae Bradshaw and Jane Holway voted to allow the Demolition Permit to issue.  The Committee members also voted to elect Rich Davis the new chair.
