Solid Waste District Meeting
1. Â Representatives of Kensington, Rye, North Hampton, Hampton, Brentwood, Fremont and Hampton Falls voted to allow New Castle and Hampton Falls to leave the District (32:12 elapsed)
2. Â Craig Musselman of CMA Engineers, representing the District as District Engineer, explained new agreements that had been negotiated with Waste Management and Covanta that will offer lower tipping fees. Â The towns can choose between the two suppliers (2:05 elapsed).
3. Â Dan Hoefle of Hoefle Phoenix, Attorney for the District, passed out copies of the draft agreements and joinder agreements that each town must sign to select between the two suppliers (16:40 elapsed).
4. Â Chairman Bud Jordan announced that Cyndi Gillespie would be assisting the Board in place of Jane Ireland, Ms. Ireland having assumed the duties of Rye Treasurer Leon Blaisdell, who passed away (39:04 elapsed)
5. Â Craig Musselman, putting on his hat as a Rye Selectman, stated that Rye is considering contracting with Portsmouth for hazardous waste days. Â One of the representatives stated that Rye would need to pay its share if the District elects to continue to offer hazardous waste days. Â Mr. Musselman then stated that Rye might leave the District in that case (42:18 elapsed)
6. Â New contracts will be finalized at the next meeting, December 17 at the Hungry Horse in Rye.
